FTE, Tracks, and Majors
Over 25 years, the Department has developed a major with three tracks, and maintained a public speaking 'service' course that has evolved from exit- to entry- level status. The number of majors has grown from two in 1979 to over fifty in 2004. During those same years, however, the FTE in the Department has decreased from a peak of five + in 1990 to three in 2004. The number of adjuncts and overload contracts offered to full-time faculty have increased to fill in the gaps.
